If you
are using a gas weed wacker, make sure that you have gas. Some weed wackers
use a mix of oil and gas so check the owner’s manual to be sure first. If
you are using an electric weed wacker, than make sure that the extension
cord is long enough, and plug it in.
Move
any potential hazards out of your way such as, rocks, toys, garden hoses
etc.. You can damage the nylon string of the weed wacker or break these
items.
Before
staring the weed wacker, position the weed wacker on the ground, in a
comfortable position and cautious position.
Prime
a cold engine, turn the weed wacker on, pull the starter cord until it
starts. Let the engine run a few seconds before starting to wack weeds.
Keep
the head of the weed wacker parallel with the ground, and away from your
feet. With slow side to side motion, brush the weed wacker over the weeds.
Move forward and continue with the side to side motion having the weed
wacker head stay parallel to the ground.
If the
area of the weeds that are being cut isn’t large enough, you can lengthen
the string which will give more cutting areas. Different weed wackers have
different methods of increasing the string so you should refer to the owners
manual on how this is done in your particular weed wacker. Common gas weed
wackers alow you to bang the head lightly on the ground and the nylon
string will be lengthened.
Weed
wackers aren’t necessarily light, so if you feel a little bit soreness or
tightening in any of your muscles or back, than stop for a few minutes to
rest your body.
